ScHoolboy Q announced his new album ‘THank Que’, the follow-up to ‘Blue Lips’, due in 2027. “I will never retire,” the TDE rapper said
ScHoolboy Q isn’t going anywhere, and now he’s got the album to prove it. The TDE veteran announced his next project, titled THank Que, confirming it will arrive in 2027 and following up 2024’s widely praised Blue Lips. He broke the news to the crowd in the closing moments of a recent stop on his Blank Face LP 10th anniversary tour, and footage quickly spread across X.
The reveal doubled as a mission statement. “New album called THank Que coming out next year,” Q told the crowd, before making a promise that landed harder than the date itself. “I promise you that. 10-year anniversary, and I’mma be around for the 20th too.” Then, in case anyone missed the point: “I will never retire.” For a rapper who has openly wrestled with his relationship to the grind over the years, it was a pointed declaration of staying power.

Following a Career-Best Run
The timing matters because of what came before it. Blue Lips, released in 2024, was one of the most acclaimed records of Q’s career, a loose, adventurous project that arrived five years after 2019’s CrasH Talk and reminded the culture how singular his voice can be when he’s fully locked in. Coming off that kind of reception, a quick follow-up is not a given, which makes the THank Que announcement feel less like routine rollout and more like a man who found his rhythm again.
Q has been hinting at the project for months. Over the summer, he said he was “wrapping up” work on the album, describing it as a 12-track effort and telling fans, “Been working on tHis for a minute.” His message then was blunt: “Yes, I’m coming back.” The capital H in the title, a longtime Q signature dating back to Habits & Contradictions and Oxymoron, signals this is business as usual for one of TDE’s cornerstone artists, even as the label’s landscape has shifted in the years since Kendrick Lamar’s departure.
Still the Life of the Tour
The announcement came in the middle of a victory lap. Q is currently out on a 10-city run celebrating the 10th anniversary of Blank Face LP, the 2016 album many fans consider his magnum opus. The tour kicked off Oct. 1 in Atlanta and has already shown the demand is real: the Los Angeles Palladium date sold out, prompting a second LA show added at the Novo. From there the run continues through Phoenix, Oakland and Las Vegas.
Revisiting Blank Face a decade later, then using that same stage to announce its spiritual successor, is a savvy bit of symbolism. It frames THank Que not as a reset but as the next chapter in a catalog that has aged better than most. For an artist who has sometimes seemed ambivalent about fame, Q looks genuinely energized here, feeding off a crowd that came to celebrate where he’s been and leaving with news about where he’s headed.
What Comes Next
For now, the details beyond the title, the year and the 12-track framework remain under wraps. There is no confirmed release date, no lead single and no feature list, which is its own kind of flex in an era of over-teased rollouts. Q is letting the promise do the work.
What’s clear is that one of West Coast rap’s most reliable voices is in no mood to slow down. Blue Lips proved he still has plenty to say, and THank Que is his way of guaranteeing the conversation continues. Twenty-year anniversary tour included.
