vincethealien turns unresolved anger into a genre-blurring release on ‘Poisonous Child,’ featuring COLDPRESSEDPAPI and BLCKBUTTERFLY
What if anger isn’t something you need to escape, but something you need to listen to?
For vincethealien, that’s the question at the heart of “Poisonous Child“, a new genre-blurring single that turns unresolved frustration, grief, and emotional distance into something unexpectedly infectious. Blending alternative pop, R&B, trip-hop, dance, rock, and industrial textures, the track finds beauty in the uncomfortable space between wanting answers and learning to live without them.
“Poisonous Child” began with a feeling that had been building quietly for a long time. After friendships changed and drifted apart without the clarity or closure he wanted, vincethealien found himself confronting an anger that had become impossible to ignore. Rather than pushing it away, he began to examine what it was actually trying to tell him.
That realization became the song’s emotional foundation. The lyric, “You became my angel, and also my hurt,” captures the complicated nature of relationships that can hold love and pain at the same time. For vincethealien, anger became less of an enemy and more of a messenger, revealing things about his relationships, himself, and what he needed in order to heal.
The song also brings together three queer Black artists, with COLDPRESSEDPAPI and BLCKBUTTERFLY joining vincethealien to deepen its emotional and sonic landscape.
Visually, “Poisonous Child” continues that theme through imagery of masks being removed. For vincethealien, those masks represent the versions of ourselves we present to the world, even when something much more complicated is happening underneath.
And perhaps that’s ultimately what “Poisonous Child” is about: allowing yourself to be seen, even when what you’re feeling isn’t neat or pretty.
The track arrives as part of vincethealien’s ongoing 2026 chapter and sets the stage for his forthcoming EP, A Necessary Breaking, due January 2027. With another single, “Elongated Time”, arriving September 25, the story is only beginning to unfold.
For now, “Poisonous Child” offers a simple invitation: feel the anger, sit with the discomfort, take off the mask, and then dance your way through it.
