Slayyyter announces ‘wor$t man in america’, a nine-track ‘brother’ album to ‘WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA’, out Dec. 4 via Columbia
Slayyyter is not ready to leave the worst era of her career, which also happens to be her best. On Monday (Oct. 5), the St. Louis pop provocateur announced ‘wor$t man in america‘, a nine-track “brother” album to this year’s breakout ‘WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA’, arriving Dec. 4 via RECORDS/Columbia. Rather than a quick deluxe cash-in, it promises an inverted mirror of the record that finally made her a mainstream force.
The new project is designed as a counterpart, revisiting the sounds, themes and ideas of its predecessor from the opposite side. Some songs act as direct flips of earlier material, while others build a parallel story that both mirrors and pushes back against the original. Apart from two previously released singles, every track is new. The concept was teased during the launch of her tour in July. “I want to live here for a little longer,” Slayyyter told Rolling Stone, describing the project as an inverse album.
Flipping the Script
The early evidence is promising. ‘brand new chanel$’ answers the ‘WOR$T GIRL’ era single ‘BEAT UP CHANEL$’ and became her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, while ‘crank 2‘ returns to ‘CRANK’, a jittery highlight she wrote in about half an hour during a New York session with producers Austin Corona and Wyatt Bernard. Each one sharpens the inverse idea rather than diluting it. On tour, fans have already heard more of the new world, with unreleased songs ‘Nekromantik!’, ‘I Think He’s Got a Girl’ and ‘Hymn’ working their way into her sets.
From Last Chance to Victory Lap
The stakes behind the sequel are what make it interesting. ‘WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA’, released in March, was Slayyyter’s major-label debut, and it reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Dance Albums chart. Yet she made it believing it might be her final album, a last-ditch attempt at something she could be proud of after losing money on rollouts and tours that underperformed. It followed 2021’s ‘Troubled Paradise’ and 2023’s ‘STARFUCKER’, records that built a cult following without fully breaking through.
Even the title has a personal origin. The “worst” tag came from her St. Louis skater friends, who used it on each other as a term of endearment. That warmth, buried inside a provocative name, has always been part of Slayyyter’s appeal, and the brother album seems built to double down on it. In a pop economy where deluxe editions often feel like padding, choosing to write a full mirror image is a more ambitious way to extend an era.
Taking the Worst on the Road
The announcement came the day after Slayyyter closed the North American leg of her sold-out WOR$T GIRL IN THE WORLD tour with two New York shows, a run that began with three hometown dates in St. Louis. Later this week she opens for Turnstile in Lawrence, Kansas, before heading to South America, Europe and the U.K. through early November, with stops including São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Paris and Berlin. In February 2027, she joins Laneway Festival across Australia and New Zealand.
Sequels in pop rarely beat the originals, and the risk of diminishing returns is real. But ‘wor$t man in america’ is framed less as a victory lap than a reflection, a chance to look at the same story from the other side of the mirror. If the early singles are any guide, the mirror will be just as loud. For an artist who once thought she was making her last album, getting to make two in one year is its own kind of happy ending.
