KATSEYE’s new ‘WILD HEARTS’ trailer previews Nadia Hallgren’s documentary, streaming on Disney+ and Hulu from October 16
KATSEYE are taking their origin story from the cinema to the couch. This week, the six-member global girl group shared a new trailer for ‘WILD HEARTS’, a documentary directed by Nadia Hallgren that follows them from the competition series ‘The Debut: Dream Academy’ to international pop. The film streams from Oct. 16 on Hulu and Disney+ in the U.S. and on Disney+ internationally, a distribution footprint that makes a fan-facing project one of the group’s widest-reaching releases to date.
The streaming date is the second phase of a carefully staged rollout. ‘WILD HEARTS’ first opened in limited cinemas on Aug. 12, two days ahead of the group’s third EP, ‘WILD’, released Aug. 14 through HYBE and Geffen Records. Moving the film to two major subscription platforms in the middle of an active touring cycle gives KATSEYE a fresh entry point for casual listeners while the EP is still new. It is a model borrowed from blockbuster concert films, scaled for a group barely two years past its debut.
Inside the New Trailer
The new preview cuts between packed venues, rehearsal rooms and quieter moments as the members decompress in hotel rooms. It also leaves space for the strain underneath the momentum. In one striking sequence, Sophia sits alone in a dark room before the edit jolts back into the noise and speed of the group’s public life. It is the kind of moment pop documentaries increasingly lean on, offering audiences a glimpse of what fame costs.
Fans are the other main character. EYEKONS appear throughout the trailer, filling venues, meeting the members and sharing milestones with them, which fits a film positioned as a love letter to the fanbase that powered KATSEYE’s rise. The documentary will include previously unseen footage, interviews and videos submitted by fans.
The project also arrives with real-world weight. Member Manon Bannerman announced a hiatus in February to focus on her health, and she appeared only in brief moments in the film’s first trailer in July.
From Competition Project to Global Act
‘WILD HEARTS’ is produced by Interscope Films and Boardwalk Pictures in partnership with HYBE x Geffen, the same team behind the Netflix series ‘Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE’. That pairing of the K-pop training system with an American major label has defined the group from the start. The story begins with the companies’ 2023 competition project, which brought together Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sophia and Yoonchae before the group’s official debut in June 2024.
That origin has been getting renewed attention. KATSEYE recently returned to a fictionalised version of Dream Academy in a ‘Saturday Night Live’ sketch during the show’s season 52 premiere, helping to assemble an increasingly chaotic new girl group. ‘WILD HEARTS’ trades that knowing exaggeration for the real path through the competition and beyond.
A Crowded Autumn
The trailer lands in the middle of a packed schedule. The Grammy-nominated group is currently on THE WILDWORLD TOUR, and on Oct. 18 they will perform at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Los Angeles alongside Megan Thee Stallion, Tate McRae and Megan Moroney. They are also part of the 2026 Jingle Ball touring lineup, which will play nine U.S. dates in December with Olivia Rodrigo, Jonas Brothers and RAYE.
Taken together, the rollout shows how modern pop groups are being built: a competition series, a theatrical event, an EP, a world tour and now a streaming documentary, each feeding the next. For KATSEYE, ‘WILD HEARTS’ is less a victory lap than another engine for a career that has moved at remarkable speed. For fans, it is the closest look yet at the people behind the polish.
