Victoria Monét announces sophomore album ‘Frequency of Love,’ out October 2 via Lovett Music/RCA, and shares Kaytranada-produced single ‘Reach Out’
Victoria Monét spent a decade writing hits for other people before Jaguar II made her a star in her own right, and she is taking her time with the follow-up. The three-time Grammy winner announced Frequency of Love on Thursday (July 23), out October 2 via Lovett Music/RCA Records, and released “Reach Out,” a Kaytranada and D’Mile production that arrives with a Dave Meyers-directed video. It is her first full-length since the 2023 album that won her Best New Artist after nearly ten years in the industry, and the rollout is landing in the middle of her most visible year yet.
“Reach Out” is the sound of an artist who has earned the right to be direct. Monét’s vocals glide over strutting production with a house thump underneath, and the lyric is a straightforward proposition to a love interest: turn this into something permanent. The video, choreographed by longtime collaborator Sean Bankhead, puts her in an all-black ensemble leading an army of backup dancers, foregrounding a skill set that often gets buried under discussion of her songwriting credits. “I am so thankful to everyone who was a part of this piece of art,” she wrote on Instagram when the visual dropped.
An Album Built at Full Scale
The details available so far suggest ambition. Apple Music’s presave lists Frequency of Love at 22 tracks, an unusually large sequence for a contemporary R&B album and roughly double the length of Jaguar II. It will include “Let Me,” the sultry single that reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart in June, and now “Reach Out.” Monét announced it herself on Instagram with the cover art and a caption reading simply “Frequency Of Love 10.2.26.” The sepia-toned image shows her lying on the floor wearing nothing but statement jewelry, a choice that generated its own news cycle within hours.
The producer roster tells you what to expect sonically. Kaytranada and D’Mile have both worked with Monét before, D’Mile as the architect of much of Jaguar II’s live-instrument warmth and Kaytranada as one of the few producers who can make a dance record feel handmade. The pairing points toward the same territory Beyoncé’s Renaissance opened up, R&B that moves without abandoning its own vocabulary. Monét co-wrote “Reach Out” with both producers plus Tommy Parker, Ernest McFall, and James Porter.
From Songwriter to Stadium Support
The timing is deliberate. Monét has spent this summer supporting Bruno Mars on the European and UK leg of The Romantic Tour, joining in mid-June and playing Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Madrid, and Milan, with three closing nights at London’s Wembley Stadium on July 24, 25, and 28. Announcing an album while playing stadiums to a new audience every night is about as efficient as promotion gets.
It also completes a long arc. Monét built her career writing for Ariana Grande and Chloe x Halle before Jaguar II broke through in 2023, spawning “On My Mama” and earning seven Grammy nominations. She converted three of them at the 2024 ceremony, taking Best R&B Album, Best Engineered Album Non-Classical, and Best New Artist, an award whose name has never sat more awkwardly on a more experienced artist. Frequency of Love is the first record she makes as an established headliner rather than a breakthrough, and at 22 tracks, she is clearly not interested in playing it safe.
The album is available for preorder now, digitally and on vinyl and CD, with a limited run of signed physical copies.
