Jesabel’s dreamy new single ‘Men of Paris’ turns three chance encounters into a romantic alt-pop tribute, cut at Paris’s Motorbass studio
Singer-songwriter Jesabel celebrates the unexpected beauty of human connection on her latest single, ‘Men of Paris’, a dreamy alternative pop release inspired by three chance encounters during her first extended stay in the French capital.
Blending cinematic production with intimate, autobiographical storytelling, the track explores romance, spontaneity and the possibility that old-fashioned chivalry still has a place in modern life.
Written following a visit to Paris in spring 2025, ‘Men of Paris’ draws inspiration from three men Jesabel met during her time in the city. Rather than traditional romantic pursuits, it was the simplicity of their interactions that left a lasting impression, with genuine conversation and shared moments providing a refreshing contrast to her experiences of how men approach women in the United States.
“Perhaps romanticism, spontaneity & chivalry aren’t dead yet,” Jesabel reflects. “A nod to the Men of Paris for being a breath of fresh air.”
The song captures that feeling through atmospheric instrumentation, soulful melodies and a romantic sensibility, transforming fleeting encounters into a wider reflection on the beauty of connections that develop without pressure or expectation.
However, the story behind ‘Men of Paris’ extends beyond the experiences that inspired its lyrics.
During her first extended stay in the city, a chance vinyl purchase led Jesabel to discover Motorbass Studios, a Parisian recording space with connections to legendary French artists including Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg.
A year later, during her second stay in Paris, she returned to record the vocals for ‘Men of Paris’ at the very studio she had discovered by chance.
The experience brought the song’s inspiration full circle, connecting the city’s musical history with the personal encounters that had sparked its creation.
Now returning to Paris for a third stay to release the single, Jesabel views the project as a three-part journey, beginning with the encounters that inspired the song, continuing through its recording and culminating in her return to share it with listeners.
That willingness to embrace unexpected opportunities has also shaped Jesabel’s wider artistic journey.
Having overcome a lifelong fear of singing in her mid-twenties, she transformed a personal challenge into an international recording career. Now splitting her time between Florida and Paris, she combines contemporary pop, soulful influences and cinematic storytelling, drawing inspiration from personal experiences and the emotional complexities of everyday life.
Her creative background also extends into fashion. A former professional model who worked in Miami and Milan, appeared on the cover of Germany’s SHAPE magazine and walked in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Jesabel now operates a vintage boutique in Jacksonville, Florida.
Her growing connection to France has become another important part of her creative identity, influencing everything from her boutique’s Parisian collections to her pursuit of French language studies and ballet.
With ‘Men of Paris’, Jesabel brings those experiences together in a romantic tribute to the city that continues to inspire her.
More than a traditional love song, the single celebrates the unexpected encounters and uncomplicated moments of connection that can leave a lasting impression, offering a reminder that romance sometimes arrives when it is least expected.
