ScHoolboy Q announces a 10-city fall tour marking 10 years of ‘Blank Face LP,’ kicking off Oct. 1 in Atlanta
ScHoolboy Q is taking one of the darkest, most fully realized albums of his career back to the stage. On Aug. 4, the Top Dawg Entertainment veteran announced the “10 Years of Blank Face LP Tour,” a 10-city fall run built to celebrate a decade of his 2016 fourth studio album. The trek kicks off Oct. 1 in Atlanta at the Tabernacle and wraps Oct. 17 in Las Vegas, and it lands at a moment when Q is clearly feeling nostalgic and forward-facing at the same time.
For a rapper who has never chased the easy lap, a full anniversary tour is a statement. Blank Face LP was Q’s most ambitious swing, a 72-minute West Coast epic that pulled in Kanye West, Anderson .Paak, Jadakiss, Vince Staples, Miguel, SZA, and more, stitched together by a production roster that ran from The Alchemist and Metro Boomin to Tyler, the Creator and Swizz Beatz. Ten years later, that guest list still reads like a snapshot of an entire era of rap, and Q is betting fans want to hear it loud, in a room, from top to bottom.
A 10-City Run for a 10-Year Milestone
The symmetry is intentional. Ten years, 10 cities, with stops in Atlanta, New York’s Brooklyn Paramount, Washington, DC, Anaheim, San Diego, Phoenix, Oakland, and Las Vegas. The hometown stretch is the headline. Q’s Oct. 9 show at the LA Palladium sold out fast, prompting a second Los Angeles date at the Novo on Oct. 12. That kind of demand tracks with how the show came together in the first place. When Q first teased the anniversary on Instagram in July, he floated the idea almost casually, telling fans “Blank face LP turns 10. Appreciate everybody.. fck it let’s do 1 show in LA at tHe palladium.” One show became a national run.
Tickets move through an artist presale beginning Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. local time, with Citi and Live Nation presales the same day, followed by the general on-sale Friday, Aug. 7 via Ticketmaster. Across the run, Q won’t just replay Blank Face. He’s promised selections from a catalog that now spans six studio albums and two mixtapes, meaning the CrasH Talk and Blue Lips faithful get fed too.
Why This Album, Why Now
The commercial case for the album was always solid. Blank Face LP debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, topped the Top Album Sales chart, earned a Best Rap Album Grammy nomination (with “That Part” nominated for Best Rap Performance), and eventually went platinum. But numbers were never the whole story with this record. It arrived during a genuinely heavy stretch for Q, who revealed at the time that a close friend who inspired his lifestyle raps was sentenced to 100 years in prison the same day the album dropped. That grief lives in the music, and it’s part of why Blank Face has aged into something fans treat as a cult classic rather than just a chart success.
The timing also connects to what’s next. Q recently teased his forthcoming album Thank Que, writing on Instagram that he’s “wrapping up this 12-song album” and confirming, plainly, “Yes I’m coming back.” His most recent full-length, 2024’s Blue Lips, landed on multiple year-end best-of lists, so the anniversary run doubles as a bridge, honoring the record that cemented him as more than Black Hippy’s second-stringer while setting the table for a new chapter.
For longtime listeners, this is the rare victory lap that actually earns the phrase. Blank Face LP was the album where Q proved he could build a world, not just steal a scene. Ten years later, he’s inviting everyone back into it.
