Fontaines D.C. announce a two-leg 2027 North American tour behind ‘Dopamine Chamber’, with Westside Cowboy and Iceage supporting

Fontaines D.C. are not planning to let ‘Dopamine Chamber’ sit still. On Thursday (Oct. 2), the Dublin five-piece announced a two-leg 2027 North American tour behind their fifth album, due Oct. 16 via XL Recordings, a 19-date run that stretches from spri ng theaters to fall arenas and ends at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. It is the band’s most ambitious North American routing yet, and a clear sign of how far their reach has grown.

The scale tells the story. The spring leg opens April 23 at Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway and runs through Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee and Minneapolis before crossing into Canada for a May 5 show at Vancouver’s Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre. From there it moves down the West Coast through Seattle and Sacramento to a May 12 date at San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. After a summer in Europe, the band returns in the fall, starting Sept. 24 in Columbus and taking in a Toronto arena show at Scotiabank Arena, the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado on Oct. 13, and the Kia Forum finale on Oct. 15.

An Earned Escalation

Those venues represent a real jump. A band that not long ago played clubs is now booking arenas and amphitheaters, and the leap has been earned rather than engineered. Fontaines D.C. have spent the last year in a steady ascent, including sold-out headline shows in New York and Los Angeles and festival sets at Shaky Knees, Sea.Hear.Now and Ohana. Their 2024 album ‘Romance’ drew both Grammy and Mercury Prize nominations, moving them from critical darlings to one of the most important rock bands working today. The new tour treats that momentum as a foundation, not a peak.

The support bills are chosen with care. British band Westside Cowboy, recently tipped as an act to watch, will open the spring leg, while Danish post-punk veterans Iceage join for the fall run. It is a pairing that signals the band’s loyalty to the wider post-punk world they came up in, and that gives each leg its own distinct flavor.

What ‘Dopamine Chamber’ Promises

The tour doubles as a long rollout for a record the band has been teasing for weeks. ‘Dopamine Chamber’ has been previewed by the singles ‘Marianne’ and ‘Tongue‘, the latter released with a New York-shot video, and the band has already played the unreleased opener ‘Six Shot Morning’ live at Shaky Knees. Most intriguing is ‘Where Is Love?’, confirmed as a duet between frontman Grian Chatten and Spanish star Rosalía, the first time the band has brought a guest vocalist onto one of their albums.

That willingness to experiment has defined this era. On ‘Tongue’, the band bent vocals and warped bass until the song sounded alien, pushing further from guitar-band orthodoxy. The live show will test how that studio adventurousness translates to rooms as large as Red Rocks and the Forum.

A Global 2027

North America is only part of the plan. The band has signaled a packed 2027 that also includes dates in Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Europe, the latter featuring a pair of huge shows at Slane Castle in Ireland. For a group that started in Dublin pubs, it is a remarkable spread.

Tickets for the North American run went to an artist presale on Oct. 6, with general sale following Friday, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. local time. Fans who have watched the band climb from small venues to this scale have one more measure of their rise: in 2027, catching Fontaines D.C. may mean a trip to an arena.
