TesseracT announce The Descent tour with UK dates at Manchester Academy and Brixton Academy before heading to Cologne, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Leipzig
TesseracT have announced The Descent, a six-date UK and Germany headline tour running across October and November 2026. The Milton Keynes progressive metal outfit will headline Manchester Academy on October 30 and Brixton Academy on November 1 before crossing to Germany for shows in Cologne, Hamburg, Frankfurt, and Leipzig across the first week of November. Fan presale opens July 1 at 10am local time. General tickets go on sale July 3 at 10am local time.
The Brixton Academy date is the commercial and symbolic headline of the routing. The south London venue holds 4,921 in its main room and carries the cultural weight of four decades of significant shows from some of the most important artists in heavy music. For TesseracT, a band who have spent fifteen years building one of progressive metal’s most internationally devoted fanbases through consistent recording and touring, a Brixton headline represents both an achievement and a platform: the appropriate scale for a band who have always existed at the serious end of their genre without quite crossing over to the mainstream.
The Tour, the Catalog, and Where TesseracT Are Now
TesseracT’s most recent album, War of Being, was released in September 2023 and arrived as what many considered their most ambitious and complete record to date. Kerrang! reviewed it with the summary “this is war,” noting that the band had gone “even further into infinity and beyond” with its technical scope. War of Being charted across multiple European territories and established the band’s current live proposition: technically demanding, emotionally immersive, and built around a catalog that rewards close listening across multiple formats.
Vocalist Daniel Tompkins has been with the band since their reformation period and has become one of the most distinctive voices in progressive metal, with a range and emotional sensitivity that sits outside the conventional register of the genre’s vocal tradition. The Descent tour is the live campaign that brings everything War of Being put on record into the rooms where TesseracT’s music lands most powerfully: mid-capacity venues with serious sound infrastructure and audiences who have made an active decision to be there rather than stumbling across the band at a festival.
The German leg reflects TesseracT’s European market particularly well. Carlswerk Victoria in Cologne, Docks in Hamburg, Batschkapp in Frankfurt, and Täubchenthal in Leipzig are each established venues for the kind of progressive and alternative metal that TesseracT produce. Germany has been one of their strongest European markets across the War of Being cycle and the Descent tour’s routing acknowledges that directly.
What the Brixton Headline and Manchester Dates Signal
The UK leg’s two-date structure, Manchester followed by London, is the standard commercial route for British bands of TesseracT’s scale. Manchester Academy holds up to 1,800 depending on configuration, and the venue has historically served as a northern anchor for bands whose London date is the headline event. Brixton Academy two nights later closes the UK portion of the tour with the largest room on the bill and the most visible single statement about where TesseracT sit in British rock right now.
The tour comes at a moment when progressive metal has genuine mainstream critical credibility, with artists including Tool, Mastodon, and Spiritbox building broader audiences for technically sophisticated heavy music. TesseracT occupy a specific lane within that context: more atmospheric and emotionally textured than Tool’s monolith-building, more intricate than Spiritbox’s metalcore adjacency, and entirely their own thing. The Descent tour is the statement of exactly that position, in the rooms that the position warrants.
